The "SONATAXsc" emits ultrasonic waves underwater and receives reflected waves from sludge to determine echo intensity, capturing the sludge interface. The sludge level can be selected as either the depth from the water surface or the height from the bottom of the tank. Simultaneous measurement of sludge concentration or sludge interface (water depth) in the bucky tank and sedimentation tank.

The signals from the MLSS detector, composed of a near-infrared LED light source, a reference light receiving element for controlling LED brightness consistently, a transmitted light receiving element, and a pressure sensor, are amplified through calculations to simultaneously display the sludge concentration and the depth of the sludge interface. Additionally, it can issue sludge interface alarms and determine the distribution state of the sludge layer.
